Platform-1 is an experiment of sound for science, entertainment and fun.
The objective is to make noise. Noise that diversifies from the normal commercial electronic sound that we are used to hearing. The use of distorted unorthodox glitchy rhythms and non chromatic pitches and harmonics. To attempt to push boundaries of conventional music genres to find new unexplored styles. It’s not easy, limited by what we know and the equipment we use.
Platform-1 spans a period of over 20 years, admittedly not continual work, but a good representation of the technology available at the time and on a small budget. From an analogue era with basic on-board digital sequencers and low power Atari ST to the modern day virtual studio with gigabytes of ram and a thousand fold processing ability.
New tracks and projects are always being worked on.
Platform-1 Experimental is a series of electronic audio projects that started life in the summer of 1994. Primarily a trance style with attempts to infuse an acid techno feel, the sound if somewhat disorganised was mostly quite abstract.
With that in mind a more experimental approach was adopted. As the projects have matured a harder and darker sound has emerged. Now the final project is an exploration of distorted percussive elements and breaks where melody is more of a harmonic disruption.
The tracks here represent the different styles that has evolved from the beginning and throughout the various projects.
New experimental tracks are being created all the time.
To compose Trance with a Techno edge.
Analogue modulated appregios with a Roland bassline, heavy on spacey effects.
Inspired by the mid 90s RTTS, Pagan and Goa Trance sound.
Sequencing and arrangement was made on a Korg 01/WFD workstation with percussion.
A selection of Analogue synths were sequenced through a Kenton Pro4 Midi-CV converter mixed into a Mackie CR1604 with various effect racks.
